Oh my goodness!! Pinch me because I think I am dreaming!! It’s another pattern release day here at Brown Bird Designs and this one has been a long time coming. I came close to picking this design to release instead of Garden Star 2 when I worked with Citrus and Mint’s playful collection many years ago. Instead, I put this design back in my pocket and have been waiting for the perfect time and perfect line to bring it into the world. This is Inflorescence Quilt, and isn’t she lovely?? Grab yourself a cup of coffee and ...

Actually, I was trying to get ahead for next year, but here we are in the midst of another pattern release. This pattern is something that I have had in my Halloween pattern file for years. Once upon a time, very long ago, when I was a brand new quilter, I came across the Disappearing 9-Patch Quilt Pattern. Sewing a 9-patch block and then cutting it into quarters for FOUR blocks was mind-blowing.

Meet Granny Long Legs - completely strip-pieced.

Or, it can be called Kissing Pinwheels. I think of both when I think of this quilt.
I had a bunch of trimmed or "bonus" triangles in blacks and whites so I decided to turn them into tiny pinwheels. I knew they would be perfect for one of my Scrap Mixology designs. Then I pulled one of my favorite color combinations of scraps.
Behind the scenes, I have been working diligently to complete more of my newest pattern series and their supporting quilts.
Today I am ready to announce my second Scrap Mixology module - Two Bits.
Back in late 2019, I started working on my goal of writing a book. I decided to spend tons of hours secretly sewing and putting together ten block designs for a book proposal. I held myself to the goal of sending it off for review by the end of March.
Well....crap!
So much for well laid plans. I still sent it off even though businesses were not sure what the future would look like and I waited for over 5 long months for them to make a final decision on it. It was not the best book to release ...
